The important word – tolerance

June 20th, 2007 in a conference hall of hotel "Izmailovo" in Moscow took place scientifically-practical conference on a theme «Education of tolerance – a basis of mutual understanding between people and stability in a society» . This event became possible due to co-sponsor’s help such as WFWP (Womens Federation for World Peace) and IEF (International Educational Federation of Russia). Colleges’ representatives as well some high school professors and with some NGO’s representatives from both Moscow and it’s district gathered together.

At first session the concept of tolerance including its historical and cultural, political and social aspects were discussed leading by the senior scientific employee of the State Theory of Art Institute Mr. Michael Grishin. Actually the title of this conference was suggested by the member of Board of the Russian Association of a Political Science Mr.Vladimir Petrovsky, who in his turn also gave the estimation of a situation with tolerance in Russia, being based on it’s tendencies of foreign policy behaviour.

Among the rest of outstanding speakers on this conference who presented they skills on this theme were the next:

- Mrs. Larissa Ruban, Ph.D. in Sociology. Her speech was about their program of education of tolerance successfully applied already in several regions of this country almost for 18 last years.

- Mrs. Vitaly Vakulinsky, General Director of the International Educational Federation (Russia). He presented the educational concept based on familiarizing the pupil with universal values and character education.

- Mrs. Marina Zhuchkova, Director of Family Federation for World Peace and Unificaton (Moscow) told about their experience and results the in sphere of interethnic relationships and and education of tolerant behaviour.

- Mr. Boris Panteleev, Legal Expert of the Moscow Human Rights Bureau. He spoke about the potential using of tolerance as an important resource for solving major social problems.

This Conference has come to the end with discussion and the conclusion that the tolerance doesn’t appear by itself but comes to the person either through his parents, teachers and other people or like a reaction of a society how it understands the value of this important word.

Here by the Resolution of Conference «Education of tolerance – a basis of mutual understanding between people and stability in a society»:

We, participants of scientifically-practical conference «Education of tolerance – a basis of mutual understanding between people and stability in a society» which has passed on June, 20th, 2007 in Hotel "Ismailovo" (Moscow), have made a decision on the following:

1. To call authorities of various levels as well as from NGO’s to pay steadfast attention to a situation in the field of interethnic and intercultural relationships and to show the political will directed on the decision of problems on this issue.

2. To agree that the greatest effect in education of interethnic and intercultural tolerance will be reached by means of partnership between authorities, scholars and NGO’s.

3. To call authorities to create platforms for bilateral interaction, enabling NGO’s to perform their opinion and really to participate in work on education of interethnic and intercultural tolerance.

4. To promote cooperation between NGO’s of Russia and the scholars in realization of the preventive and educational programs directed on propagation of ideas of tolerance.

5. To approach mass media of all cities and regions of Russia to help in promotion of idea of interethnic and intercultural tolerance and actively display events directed on the issues of Peace of the world and nonviolence.
