Model School: raising the citizen of the world

International Model School Conferece under the title "Model School: raising the citizen of the world" took place in June 26-29, 2007
This time Saint- Petersburg (the city situated on the Neva river) welcomed the participants of the conference. 46 guests from 5 countries (Russia, Belarus, Moldova, Kazahstan, Estonia) participated in the programm. The meeting was held on the picturesque coast of the Gulf of Finland.

The city met the guests with rain but, according to the folk legend, the rain during the journey promises much wealth. The conference was really rich with new knowledge, new feelings, new discoveries, new methods of work and new acquaintaces.

The program was organized with lot’s of surprises. The conference started with a set of several game-tests for the participants which caused real challenge for them. For instance working in different groups has helped participants of conference to open the best features in themselves and to see them in others, despite of different cultures, skills and position. During 4 days of this Conference an important idea of it was reflected as the motto of one of working groups such as:«In each person there is a sun – let just only allow it to shine». And these 46 suns of participants "shone" during conference.

Among the participants there were some representatives of Educational Dept., directors of schools and their assistants as well as NGO-representatives plus scholars from high schools and teachers. And 25 people came on this Conference for the first time.

The schedule was quite tide consisting from: performances, discussions, work in groups, an exhibition of materials from an operational experience of acting model schools (Arkhangelsk region, Schools #3 Kirishi, of St.Petersburg-region and School #34 of Ivanovo-city), "master-classes", trainings, reports of exemplary schools, performances of four schools applying for a rank "Model". As the result, 4 new schools have received a rank "Model": School #49 of Ivanovo, School #3 of Pikalevo-town (St.Petersburg-region), School #15 Belt (Moldova), the Boarding school #2 of Ryazan.

The invited visitors have shared their ideas and researches in the sphere of education of the Citizen of the world. Participants of conference had a new vision about a word "tolerance" especially after the performance of Ph.D. Mrs. Smirnova T.M. Besides just the brain working time there was a chance for creativity. Such as: creation of "Ideas bank", development of "Model schools adds», competition for "Mr. and Mrs. of Conference", Day of Heart with preparation of gifts for «secret pal», preparation a banquet’s concert program.

The time of conference has passed quit fast but participants kept vigorous mood even after a late trip to theatre and excursion «The White nights of Petersburg». The latest night at the Hotel’s sea shore was short also – but more communicative to the new friends and regretting that the time passed so fast. But still was necessary to come back and continue hard, but very important work on education of the Citizen of the world – the person loving and responsible. It is our contribution to construction of the world peace. Both especially for this reason and by old tradition with the certificate of the Ambassador for Peace 21 participant of conference were awarded.

To the different countries and cities the received knowledge, new books, bright impressions, warmly human attitudes were taken away by the participants of this conference. The next eager desire of a participants’ heart was to meet again in a year at following Model Schools Conference – in Ivanovo-city. We hope – to meet with new achievements and new applicants for a honorary title «Model School» by the end of next School-Year.
