15th White Crow Seminar

On March 27-30, 2007 an annual Young Leaders Meeting White Crow was held. Participants of the meeting were young people from Arkhangelsk Region (village Shirokiy Priluk), Karelia (village Sukkozero), Belarus, Ukraine, and Saint-Petersburg - 20 people in all.

All participants were divided into 3 groups, 3 towns – North-Western Hen House, Dobrograd, and Vogel-City. As usual citizens during 4 days were doing there best to understand and realize four words (one for each day): Tolerance, Unity, Altruism, and Family. Each day brought to everybody something new and interesting.

The Day of Tolerance was filled with merry competitions, serious discussions, Deed in accordance with the Word of the day, and interesting performances of the citizens of Vogel-City in makeshift theatre (it was there work on this day Word). In the evening there were two events - a presentation of a crow to the best city and Svecha (candle) meeting, where everybody could share his or her day experience (Svecha closed every day of White Crow).

Guardian Angels (young people who participated in White Crow before) had a special role and responsibility. This time they had to take care of newcomers and help their cities. Lyova, Svyat, and Tonya were in earnest about their responsibility, they spend almost every moment with White Crow participants. All three cities greatly appreciated their Angels for their patience, creativity, and assistance.

On the Day of Unity everybody visited Gulf of Finland, where the cities participated in merry competitions and played different games, which showed to all participants that cooperation, trust, respect, and openness in relations were very important for Unity. Film Aerobatics at an evening Video Club taught young people the same. Their understanding of Unity participants showed in their work on the Word of the day in the form of opera and ballet performed by the city North-Western Hen House.

The Day of Altruism was quite intensive. After a wonderful theoretical part prepared by a day coordinator Natasha our participants took part in four projects. They cleaned a beach, a flower-bed in a neurologic sanatorium, and a territory near professor’s house, took care of handicapped children in a rehabilitation centre. After dinner young people had an excursion, visited museum and then went to the theatre. They returned to rest home very late and felt very tired.

Important events of the Day of Family were Parents Podium and the Day of Heart (with a closing concert). During Parents Podium parents of various nationalities shared their experience of how to build a good family. During the Day of Heart everybody could participate in the concert with collective or individual creative turn. After the concert a presentation of Platinum Crow prizes for various nominations was held. It was so difficult to choose! Because everybody deserved the prize! The evening concluded with banquet and “bags of happiness” with presents from Secret Friend.

Everybody was inspired and promised to come back. And to share their experience and inspiration with friends and classmates.
